Ontologies, Reuse and Domain Analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
Ontology engineering is rapidly becoming an important discipline for the development of the semantic web. For many ontology applications, standard systems analysis methodology is an appropriate way to approach the systematic design of the ontology. For other applications, however, a domain analysis approach is more suited. This paper examines the sorts of applications that could benefit from a domain analysis approach, and provides suggestions about how to incorporate domain analysis methods into ontology engineering discipline.

Guidelines for Constructing Reusable Domain Ontologies
The growing interest in ontologies is concomitant with the increasing use of agent systems in user environment. Ontologies have established themselves as schemas for encoding knowledge about a particular domain, which can be interpreted by both humans and agents to accomplish a task in cooperation. However, construction of the domain ontologies is a bottleneck, and planning towards reuse of dom...
متن کاملGenerating Ontologies Via Language Components and Ontology Reuse
Realizing the Semantic Web involves creating ontologies, a tedious and costly challenge. Reuse can reduce the cost of ontology engineering. Semantic Web ontologies can provide useful input for ontology reuse. However, the automated reuse of such ontologies remains underexplored. This paper presents a generic architecture for automated ontology reuse. With our implementation of this architecture...

متن کاملAn Information Model for Ontology Searching and Reuse
A grand number of ontologies, covering almost all domains are freely available in the internet, but many potential users prefer to design his ontology from scratch. The main reasons are related to the difficulties in searching and reusing ontologies. In fact, ontologies combine two major kinds of knowledge: domain and task knowledge (related to the tacks of it possible usage), but tack knowledg...
متن کاملEvaluating Scientific Domain Ontologies for the Electromagnetic Knowledge Domain: a General Methodology
The adoption of ontologies as a formalized approach to information codification is a constant-growing phenomenon in scientific research. Moreover, knowledge sharing and reuse can be improved by adopting hierarchical and modular frameworks and therein embedding available ontologies. Unfortunately, merging procedures may bring about severe, time-consuming problems if a careful selection process i...
